Call for Artists and Photographers to Exhibit at Laurelwood Arboretum

Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum invites local artists and photographers to exhibit their work at the Festival of Friends 15th Anniversary Celebration. Individuals may submit one piece of art or photography that was created in or inspired by Laurelwood Arboretum. The exhibit will open on September 15, at 5 pm at the Festival of Friends celebration at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive West, Wayne.

Submissions will be accepted on Thursday, September 6, between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Knippenberg Center. Artwork/photos cannot exceed 24” x 30” and must be ready to hang,

There is no charge for artists and photographers to exhibit their work.

The art and photography exhibit will include paintings by Laurelwood’s benefactor, Dorothy Knippenberg, on loan from her family. She was a graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York and an accomplished artist.

Other features of the Festival will be the dedication of a Founders’ Garden to honor the eight people who established the Friends organization. For refreshments, there will be hors d’oeuvres by Viaggio Ristorante of Wayne accompanied by wine, beer and nonalcoholic beverages. Jazz pianist Gary Mancinelli will entertain on the piano. A highlight of the event is a Silent Auction of carefully selected items. The Festival of Friends is sponsored by Lakeland Bank. Tickets to the Festival are $60 per person and can be ordered online at www.laurelwoodarboretum.org.

All proceeds from the Festival of Friends fundraiser will support the preservation and care of Laurelwood Arboretum.
