Welcome to the Event Registration for Watercolor in Nature. Learn to paint with watercolors in a natural environment.
9 sessions; Wednesdays 4PM to 6PM July 1, 2026 to August 26, 2026.
All participants must register separately.
Classes are refundable if we do not meet the minimum enrollment of 6.
Supplies needed:
If you are going to buy online, I use Jerry’s Artarama or Dick Blick. I did see the blocks cheaper on Amazon, but not sure if you can get everything else there. Michaels did not have the blocks online - they may be in the stores but they are usually more expensive there.
PAINT - Winsor Newton Professional Watercolors - 14ml TUBES
(do not get the Cotman, that is their student grade).
You may want to get a 37ml tube of yellow since you will probably
use more of that color in the 9 session classes. You just need these 3 colors:
Winsor Yellow
Permanent Rose
Winsor Blue (red shade)
We paint on a BLOCK so that we don’t have to stretch and tape down the paper.
The block is attached on all 4 side whereas the pad is just attached at the top
and you paper will ripple, so be sure it says block.
Arches Watercolor BLOCK, 140lb, COLD PRESS (green cover)
ROUND watercolor BRUSH in SIZE 14. There are many brands so if you spend about $10 on the one brush, you will get a good quantity. Just don’t get a package of cheap brushes.
PALETTE - you can use anything white (examples: palette, white dish, foam plate or tray, but it should have enough room for a big mixing area. For those doing Plein Air painting, make sure it’s heavy enough not to blow away. If you are going to
buy a watercolor palette then it is better to get one with a lid.
Things you probably have:
Two plastic bowls or plastic containers for water
Pencil and white eraser
2 old hand towels - I use these instead of paper towels
Scrap paper to draw on
