At the corner of Azalea Way and Brook Road stands Dorothy’s Gazebo, a beautifully crafted structure made from osage orange and red cedar trees. Once the site of a ring of tree stumps, it served as a meeting place for Dorothy Knippenberg and her volunteers to review the day’s work at Laurelwood. Today it offers visitors a quiet place to rest and enjoy a peaceful view of Laurel Pond from the comfort of its cool shade.

On a blue-sky day, you might even spot a wedding ceremony taking place just steps from the gazebo. Flanked by star magnolias whose showy white blossoms put on a spectacular display in spring, it is a place where memories continue to be
made.
