Panicum virgatum is a 3-4 foot tall grass that can grow in sandy to heavy clay soils. It grows best in full sun as it may flop in partial shade. More established specimens can get as tall as 7 feet when the flower plumes grow. This is an excellent grass to use instead of the invasive Chinese silvergrass.
