Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum will welcome families to a free Children’s Butterfly Day on Sunday, August 28th from 2 pm to 4 pm at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne. The event will feature a children’s story time, butterfly crafts and rock painting. Volunteers will lead tours of the arboretum’s Sensory Garden and Pollinator Garden, where the children are sure to see many colorful birds and butterflies. Indoors at the Knippenberg Center for Education they will find a display of live butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and newly hatched monarch butterflies. There will also be information about the life cycle of butterflies and how to attract them in home gardens.
