Andrea Geller to Exhibit at Laurelwood Arboretum]

Green Fields is the theme of the colorful and lively landscape paintings by artist Andrea Geller—on display from April 27 through May 23 at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne.  The Green Fields paintings are of grasses around the world, from the forests of the Hudson Valley, to the hills of Bavaria and the meadows of Iceland.

The Opening Reception for the exhibit is on Sunday, May 4 at 2:30 pm.  Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.  For anyone who wishes to view the artwork at another time, the Knippenberg Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 noon to 4 pm.

“Grasses are a flexible subject, capturing the light and warmth of the sun as they move freely with the wind and change color with the time of day, season, and weather,” said Geller.  “I am drawn to these sun-drenched and cloud-covered fields and meadows, where I experiment with the depth of light and color over the earth.”

Geller lives in New Jersey and is an Adjunct Professor at William Paterson University in Wayne.  After studying painting for two years at Cornell University, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Parsons School of Design.  Following a career as an illustrator and graphic designer, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from William Paterson University.  Her artistic work includes oil, watercolor and gouache figures and landscapes in various states of transformation.  She exhibits widely and her paintings may be found in many private collections.

The Geller exhibit is one in a monthly series sponsored by Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, the nonprofit organization that helps preserve and manage the 30-acre arboretum in partnership with Wayne Township.  For additional information about this exhibit or other upcoming  events, go to www.laurelwoodarboretum.org or send an email to info@laurelwoodarboretum.org.
