Award-winning Artist Exhibits At Laurelwood Arboretum

The October exhibit at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum spotlights the work of award-winning photographic artist Elisabeth Ladwig.  This joyful show embraces the idea of “Breathing Room” as a guilt-free way of life. Featured artworks touch on themes of slower living, connection, thoughtful observation, and the purposeful crafting of one’s time on Earth.  “The show encourages slowing down in order to live a more curated life,” Ladwig said.  “I wanted to create a space that compels visitors to breathe a big, cleansing sigh, with plenty of inspiration to take home with them.”

“Breathing Room is on view from October 1 through November 12.  The Opening Reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Sunday, October 6 at 2:30 PM.  Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.  For anyone who wishes to see the exhibit at another time, the Knippenberg Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM.

Ladwig’s works have appeared in venues from Scottsdale to Rome, on magazine covers, and on digital displays in Times Square and at the Louvre. Similar to collage, she cuts and pastes her original photographs, digitally blending them for seamless, magical scenes.  This process allows her to create metaphorical reminders of the magic and miracles all around us in an attempt to bring humanity back home to its roots: kin of the Earth.

The October exhibit is one in a monthly series sponsored by Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, the nonprofit organization that helps preserve and manage the 30-acre arboretum in partnership with Wayne Township.  For additional information about exhibiting at Laurelwood Arboretum, go to www.laurelwoodarboretum.org or send an email to display@laurelwoodarboretum.org
