Nature Program for Students at Laurelwood Arboretum

Students in grades 2 through 6 can learn about rocks and minerals and examine rock and fossil specimens at the first GreenQuest Nature Club of the season on Wednesday, April 24 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive in Wayne.  They will also tour Laurelwood and explore the South Rock Garden.  Registration is now open at www.laurelwoodarboretum.org  and is limited to 20 students.  Admission is $3.00, and proceeds will go towards the GreenQuest Program.

The GreenQuest Nature Club, an environmentally themed program sponsored by Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, is held once a month, April through October, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.  During the 90-minute sessions, children will learn about rocks, flowers, frogs and turtles, fungi, weird and wonderful creatures, New Jersey woodlands, and cats.  Registration opens on the first day of each month.

The GreenQuest Nature Club is led by Aadhith Balaji, a senior at Wayne Hills High School.  He is the President of the Wayne Hills Green Club and a student member of the Wayne Environmental Commission.  He led the GreenQuest Nature Club at the Wayne Public Library and Laurelwood Arboretum in 2022 and 2023.  Aadhith will be studying environmental engineering at college in the Fall.  To learn more about GreenQuest, please visit the GreenQuest website at https://greenquestnatureclub.wixsite.com/greenquest-nature-cl.
