Wayne resident Katie McEwan will be the speaker for a free virtual program, “Earth Day Past & Present,” on Monday, April 10 at 1 pm. The event is sponsored by the Wayne Public Library and Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum. Katie will talk about the history of Earth Day, what is being done both on a national and local level, and why Earth Day is relevant today. She is a Passaic County Master Gardener and spent many volunteer hours doing public outreach and education about environmental issues. She served on the Wayne Envionmental Commission and is on the board of the PTO at Pines Lake Elementary School.
Katie is a member of Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum and chairperson of the upcoming Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22 from 12 noon to 4 pm at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne.
