Free Nature Program for Wayne Students

Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum invites students in grades 2 through 6 to register for the GreenQuest Nature Club, a free environmentally themed program and activity held once a month, April through October, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.  All sessions will be held at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive in Wayne.  During the 90-minute programs, children will learn about trees, birds, wetlands life, fireflies, butterflies and other pollinators, STEM in nature, and bats and spiders.  Registration opens on the first day of each month at www.laurelwoodarboretum.org and is limited to 20 students per session.

The first GreenQuest program in the monthly series will be held on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.  It will focus on New Jersey’s local tree species and how to conserve and care for trees.  The students will also take a guided tour of Laurelwood Arboretum and explore its tree population. Registration opens April 1 at www.laurelwoodarboretum.org  and is limited to 20 students.

The GreenQuest Nature Club is led by Aadhith Balaji, a junior at Wayne Hills High School.  He is a member of the Wayne Hills Environmental Club and led the 2022 GreenQuest Nature Club at the Wayne Public Library.
