Mark your calendars for the weekend of June 5 and 6, from 10 am to 4 pm, for a “sneak peek” preview of A Sculpture Trail at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne. The event will celebrate the installation of 12 exciting sculptures, carefully placed to complement the park’s landscape and serene setting. When complete, A Sculpture Trail will showcase 15 unique works of art by eminent artists. A Grand Opening is scheduled for the weekend of September 18.
The “sneak peek” preview celebration, which is open to the public free of charge, will feature guided walking tours of the sculptures at 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm. Tours will be limited to groups of 10 at a time, with signup sheets at the pavilion table to the right of the Knippenberg Center. There will also be special outdoor art projects for children at the center throughout the day.
Small one-of-a-kind sculptures by participating artists will be displayed in the arboretum’s Sensory Garden and will be available for sale– with a special piece to be raffled off for $10 per ticket. “We’ll also be jump-starting our Sculpture Trail Ad Journal sales and sponsorship opportunities,” said Pines Lake resident Leslie Reiser, chairperson of A Sculpture Trail. “We’re hoping visitors will help us keep the momentum going by contributing to this exciting project at laurelwoodarboretum.org/sculpture-trail/ad-journal-splash/.
A Sculpture Trail is sponsored by the non-profit Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum and curated by Scott A. Broadfoot of the Broadfoot & Broadfoot gallery in Boonton, New Jersey. All sculptures on display throughout the arboretum are for sale. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends organization to be applied to a capital improvement project to benefit the arboretum.
