The All-Wayne Orchestra (AWO), made up of 17 student musicians in grades 3 through 12, performed their spring concert at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum. The orchestra is under the direction of Sheila Mendel, who has been with the group for 20 years. More than 50 people attended the concert, which was open to the public.
Musical education and participation in the AWO are prerequisites for students to go on to advanced orchestras. Orchestral participation allows string (violin, viola and cello) students in good standing to audition for North Jersey Region I and All-State Orchestras. Through the years, many students have qualified and were accepted including current AWO cellist, Christina Jung.
