FOLA To Host a Weekend of Art at Laurelwood Arboretum

Art at the ArboretumThere will be a great deal of excitement at Laurelwood Arboretum the weekend of September 24th and 25th, when Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum (FOLA) hosts Art at the Arboretum at the Knippenberg Center for Education, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne. The event will provide an opportunity for people to view and purchase artwork from notable artists. The art will include paintings and sculpture in a variety of styles and mixed-media. The distinguished artists were selected by a professional art assessor.

The festivities will begin on Saturday, September 24, at 7 p.m. with a gala cocktail and dessert reception for sponsors and patrons. Guests at the gala will have the opportunity to meet the artists and preview or purchase their work. Guest speaker will be Frank Juliano, Executive Director of Reeves-Reed Arboretum, who will discuss, “How to Identify Collectible Art.” Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online here or by sending a check to FOLA, Box 2433, Wayne, New Jersey 07474-2433.

On Sunday, September 25, members and supporters of Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum are invited to attend a champagne brunch reception from 10:30 to noon at the Knippenberg Center. They will have an opportunity speak with the artists and preview or purchase artwork. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or by mailing a check. Seating is limited, so early reservations are suggested.

The exhibition will be open to the public without charge on Sunday from noon to 4 pm.  FOLA’s volunteer tour guides will offer tours of the arboretum at 1 pm.

Art at the Arboretum, a first-ever major fundraising event for FOLA, will help the organization maintain and enhance this beautiful park and host programs for nature lovers of all ages. Pines Lake residents Leslie and Stuart Reiser are Art at the Arboretum Chairpersons, and Wayne Mayor Christopher P. Vergano is Honorary Chairperson.
