Dr. Marty Becker, Professor of Earth and Environmental Science at William Paterson University, will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, July 13, at 4 p.m. at the Knippenberg Center for Education at Laurelwood Arboretum, 725 Pines Lake Drive, Wayne. The program is free and open to the public. Dr. Becker specializes in paleontology, geology and earth science at William Paterson, and is a popular professor whose classes are reportedly very entertaining.
“There is much to learn about the unique geology of Laurelwood Arboretum and the surrounding area,” said Elaine Fogerty, the arboretum’s executive director. “The geology of the area determines what grows and flourishes at Laurelwood, and what poses difficulties for our gardening staff. It will be very interesting to learn more about this unique geologic history.”
