Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum (FOLA) has been awarded a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust for the development of a horticultural master plan for the arboretum development of educational programs for the public. Grant funds will be used in 2016 to increase the work schedule of Laurelwood’s Executive Director Elaine Fogerty from two days to four days per week. This will allow her to create a horticultural plan for the arboretum and design and execute new horticultural programs for children and adults.
This is the second grant awarded to FOLA from the California-based Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust. A grant was received last year for the design and construction of the arboretum’s Native Plant Demonstration Garden. FOLA depends on grants such as these to improve Laurelwood Arboretum and expand its menu of programs and activities for the community.
